Newsletter |
The LemLink system can automatically generate a newsletter at selected intervals that is emailed to a list of subscribers.
You can manually add and remove subscribers to your newsletter from the Newsletter manager page, which you access from the main Site Manager page. Click on the button 'Newsletter'.
In the page that opens, click 'Manage Subscribers'.
You can also include a form in your site that allows visitors to subscribe themselves.
Simply use the tag {newsletter} in any text, and it will create a link that will open a new window with an appropriate form.
(You can alter the text displayed in the link by adding it to the tag, thus {newsletter:Click here to subscribe}). Test it here
On the Newsletter manager page, you can specify
- Headers and Footers
- a welcoming message for new subscribers (which is automatically emailed to those who subscribe themselves using the newsletter form),
- the frequency of posting,
- the email address of the Newsletter administrator.
- The 'Send Full Text for News' checkbox determines whether just News Headlines or the full article is included in the Newsletter.
- The Edition Number is included in the Newsletter Subject line and is automatically incremented.
Always Click 'Save Newsletter Preferences' when you have changed any fields.
| Building and Editing a Newsletter |
A Newsletter is 'built' when you click the 'Rebuild Newsletter' button, or when the set interval since the Newsletter was last sent is reached.
A built newsletter includes all articles, resources and forums that have been posted since the previous newsletter was sent, as well as any events that are coming up before the next newsletter is scheduled.
If there are no new articles and no upcoming events, the Newsletter will be blank.
You can edit a Newsletter in the large text box on the Newsletter manager page.
Click 'Save Newsletter Preferences' after you make any changes to the text of the Newsletter.
When a Newsletter is automatically rebuilt, an email will be sent to the Newsletter administrator to let them know that the newsletter is ready for sending.
The Newsletter will not be sent until the Newsletter Administrator clicks the Send Newsletter button on the Newsletter Administration page
This is so that the administrator always has the opportunity to edit and correct automatically generated newsletters.
Newsletters can be sent at any time by clicking the 'Send Newsletter' button.
